NEW YORK, NY – February 12, 2008 – Tecktonik Media, founded by former Life & Style Editor-in-Chief Mark Pasetsky, today announced the official launch of CoverAwards (www.CoverAwards.com). 

“Our goal is to offer the media industry and consumers a place to converse about the hottest covers on the newsstand, as well as web site home pages,” says Pasetsky, Editorial Director, CoverAwards.  “We’re also interviewing editors in an effort to provide readers with behind-the-scenes stories.  In addition, we are breaking the latest ‘cover’ news on a daily basis.”  <

Pasetsky adds, “We’re ‘awarding’ best and worst covers in different categories, while the core of the site offers an in-depth analysis of covers.  For magazines and newspapers our criteria is based on a number of factors, including how it stands out on the newsstand, the strength of the cover lines, and the overall topic.  For web sites, we are reviewing new innovations, user-friendliness and design.” 

Serving as Managing Editor is Mara Siegler.  Previously, Siegler freelanced for a variety of daily newspapers and celebrity-focused web sites.   In addition, she managed her personal indie rock blog Brewed Fresh.  At CoverAwards, Siegler is responsible for breaking news throughout the day and can be contacted at mara@CoverAwards.com.

In addition to selecting covers directly from the newsstand, CoverAwards accepts submissions via email.  The email address is submissions@CoverAwards.com. The images must be high quality JPEGs at web resolution (72 dpi) and no smaller than 400 pixels wide.

Prior to launching Tecktonik Media and CoverAwards, Pasetsky was the Editor-in-Chief and General Manager of Life & Style.  The magazine was named the 2004 Magazine Launch of the Year and the fastest growing magazine on newsstands in the country.  Pasetsky’s Internet and TV experience includes serving as Vice President of Communications for MTV Networks’ Online Division.
